Tiered Front Yard Transformation with Playground and Outdoor Living Spaces

Project Description:
This creative front yard transformation turned a large tiered space into a private yet open outdoor retreat, designed for both children’s play and adult relaxation. The design focused on maximizing usable space while keeping the front yard visually open to the street, avoiding a blocked-off feel.
Custom tiered retaining walls finished with smooth white stucco create multiple levels for functional use. Planter beds are filled with mature olive trees and California native plants, all irrigated with a water-efficient drip system. A custom-built horizontal IPE wood fence surrounds the property, leaving intentional spacing between the planks to allow openness while maintaining privacy.
The centerpiece play area includes a sand playground and a Bermuda grass field perfect for young children to play soccer and enjoy outdoor activity. A floating IPE wood bench combined with a buffed white concrete bench offers spacious, modern seating for adults to relax while supervising the children.
The entry landing features custom patterned concrete tiles, while low-voltage landscape lighting softly illuminates the trees, retaining walls, and pathways, creating a warm, inviting curb appeal. This project has quickly become the best front yard in the neighborhood, blending function, beauty, and family-friendly design.
